One audit tool, from the annual tick to the deep dive

Infection prevention and control audits in general practice usually live in a spreadsheet: one column per question, a percentage at the bottom, and a note in the margin when a finding belongs to a particular room. This tool keeps the same national framework and fixes what the spreadsheet cannot do.

  • Room by room. Five clinical rooms means five sets of answers, each scored separately — so a finding is pinned to the room it belongs to rather than recorded as a comment.
  • Scoped to your premises. No minor operations suite? Those questions never appear. You answer what applies to you.
  • RAG rated. 95% and above green, 76–94% amber, 75% and below red — per module and overall.
  • A live action plan. Every non-compliance carries an owner, a due date and a progress state, and stays visible until it is closed.
  • Year on year. Each audit is kept, so you can show an inspector the trend rather than a single snapshot.

Scoring follows the standard rule: compliant divided by compliant plus non-compliant. Questions marked N/A or not yet assessed are excluded from the denominator, so they can neither inflate nor depress the score.
