Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about working with Haresign Consulting.

Getting Started

What types of organisations do you work with?

Primarily GP practices and Primary Care Networks (PCNs) in England. I work with single practices, multi-partner federations, and PCN leadership teams — typically where there's a need for strategic clarity, operational improvement, or better use of data and digital tools. I also work with practice managers who want a knowledgeable thinking partner alongside their day-to-day role.

How does an engagement typically start?

With a conversation. I'll ask you to describe what's not working, what you've already tried, and what a good outcome would look like. From that I can tell you whether I'm likely to be useful, what type of engagement makes sense, and give you a rough sense of scope and cost — usually within a few days. There's no charge for an initial call.

Do you work remotely or on-site?

Both. Most strategy and analysis work happens remotely — it's more efficient and reduces disruption to your team. Where on-site presence adds genuine value (workshops, partner meetings, working sessions with staff), I'm happy to travel. I'm based in the UK and primarily work with practices across England.

The Services

What's the difference between HaresignConnect and Consulting & Delivery?

HaresignConnect is a structured, time-limited engagement — typically 8–12 weeks — designed to replace informal ways of working with clear systems for decisions, accountability, and risk. It follows a defined process and produces lasting infrastructure your team can own. Consulting & Delivery is more flexible: retainer, project, or day-rate work on a specific problem — access redesign, QOF optimisation, a difficult partner conversation, a digital project. If you're not sure which fits, just get in touch.

What areas do you specialise in?

My strongest areas are governance and operating structure, access and capacity strategy, QOF and enhanced services optimisation, workforce planning (including ARRS and PCN funding), digital transformation, and data analytics. I also support practice managers directly — strategy, managing up, dealing with partnership dynamics, and building confidence in leadership.

How long do engagements typically last?

HaresignConnect runs 8–12 weeks. Project-based consulting typically runs 4–12 weeks depending on scope. Retainer arrangements are usually 3–6 months minimum, though some clients continue longer. I don't do open-ended arrangements without defined goals — the aim is always to leave you in a stronger position, not to create ongoing dependency.

Are you available for ad-hoc advice or one-off pieces of work?

Yes, on a day-rate basis. This works well for things like attending a partner meeting, reviewing a contract, sense-checking a business case, or a focused half-day session on a specific problem. It's not the most cost-effective option for larger challenges, but it's a low-commitment way to get started if you're unsure.

Practicalities

What does pricing look like?

I don't publish fixed rates because the right scope varies too much. HaresignConnect is priced as a fixed-fee package. Project and retainer work is scoped and quoted based on the time involved. Day-rate work uses a standard daily rate. Once I understand what you need, I'll give you a clear quote before any commitment is made.

Do you work with practices that are struggling financially?

Yes. Many practices come to me at a difficult point — rising costs, recruitment pressure, income instability. Part of what I do is help organisations see their situation clearly and make better decisions under pressure. I try to make engagements proportionate to what's realistic for the organisation.

What about confidentiality?

All client information is treated as strictly confidential. I don't share details of any engagement with other clients or third parties. Where a formal agreement is in place, I'm happy to sign an NDA or work within your existing confidentiality framework.

I'm a practice manager — can you support me personally, not just the practice?

Absolutely. I work directly with practice managers who want a thinking partner — someone who understands the role from the inside, can help you work through a difficult situation, and supports you in leading more effectively. This can sit alongside or separate from any work with your practice as an organisation.

Still have a question?

If there's something not covered here, just get in touch. I'm happy to answer questions before any commitment is made.
